Where to find the rebreather in Sons of the Forest?

The Rebreather is pretty easy to snag early in Sons of the Forest if you know which cave to look in.

The Sons of the Forest Rebreather is one of the first essential pieces of gear you'll need to uncover the mysteries of the island. Luckily, it's relatively quick to grab compared to the location of the shovel and rope gun. The rebreather is in a cave on the north beach, which should be pretty close if your chopper crashes on the beach.

Take a look at the map below to see the exact location of the cave entrance. You can also use this interactive Sons of the Forest map to find them. Here's what you need to know to navigate it and grab the rebreather inside:

How to get the Rebreather in Sons of the Forest

Like other caves, this one is dark inside, so grab a flashlight or lighter. There are enemies waiting in the dark, but the path to the Rebreather is the only one so far that I felt I could actually sprint past them all without getting killed trying.

Walk forward through the cave until you drop down to a standing pool of water with a hose floating in it. Continue to the next room and look out for one of those bright work lights that will illuminate a path to the right. Don't follow him and instead take the left fork in the dark, although it's pretty hard to see. You have to sneak past several of these slimy cave enemies in the same room. Check out the images below for visual reference as you won't have time to stop and scratch your head over them.

This is the biggest distraction to watch out for, as the right side path has a lot more enemies. It leads to other essential gear like a stun gun that you'll want to pick up at some point. However, if you just want to snap and grab the rebreather, keep going past that fork and just keep pushing your way through any cavernous space you reach. When you face a large pool of water with a large pool float and working light on the other side, you have reached the place.

Don't fall into the water until you've equipped this rebreather, because there's a shark waiting down there to eat you. Instead, go around the right side of the room to reach the other side and find the handy rebreather waiting for you.

Throw on your new gear, and you can escape by diving into the water and swimming through a hole in the cave wall below, eventually leading back to the ocean.
