Cyberpunk 2077 RTX Path Tracing Overdrive Mode Coming April 11
At GDC 2023, CD Projekt RED announced that the highly anticipated RTX Path Tracing Overdrive mode for Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 11th.
Cyberpunk 2077 will also benefit from revamped shader execution. This feature is available for use on NVIDIA Ada Lovelace GPUs and optimizes GPU workloads. As a result, it can enable more efficient trace lighting.
Besides SER and RTX Path Tracing, Cyberpunk 2077 will also support DLSS 3. In fact, DLSS 3 is already available in the game and you can test it yourself.
Unfortunately, NVIDIA and CDPR have not shared any new in-engine/game videos for CP2077's RTX Path Tracing.
Anyway, we've listed the main features of RT Overdrive mode below.
- NVIDIA RTX Direct Illumination (RTXDI) gives every neon sign, street lamp, car headlight, LED billboard and TV precise ray-traced lighting and shadows, bathing objects, walls, cars that pass and pedestrians in precise colored lighting
- Indirect lighting and ray-traced reflections now bounce multiple times, compared to the single bounce from the previous solution. The result is even more precise, realistic and immersive global illumination, reflections and self-reflections.
- Ray-traced reflections are now rendered at full resolution, further improving their quality
- Improved, more physical illumination eliminates the need for any other occlusion techniques
