If you want new skins, you have to go to the blacksmith and there click on "Unlock new skins on salvage". You'll notice the text next to a small pickaxe icon. You must then navigate to the Appearance tab in the Wardrobe and choose from the available salvaged skins for each gear slot.
You can save your cosmetic gears in the Ensemble tab for quick access to your favorite outfit. Keep in mind that while your appearance will change, the stats will remain the same. You also have a list of variants to choose from
