How to get Humming Obols in Diablo 4
Try your luck with Curiosities Vendor.
Murmuring Obols are a currency that can be spent in the Purveyor of Curiosities, a vendor found in towns in the Sanctuary in Diablo 4 (opens in new tab). If you're familiar with Diablo 3, this system is very similar to Kadala and Blood Shards, where you'll spend to purchase a random piece of gear with a chance to turn into a legendary item or set piece.
We've only seen a small portion of Sanctuary in beta and it's capped at level 25, so it's hard to know how much of a role this currency will play once we reach the endgame. If the system follows the same pattern as the previous game, it should prove vital to getting your character the best gear available. With that in mind, here's how to get Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4 beta.
How to get Humming Obols in Diablo 4
The most consistent way to earn Humming Obol during the Diablo 4 beta is from events. These can spawn all over the map and can be completed alone, although much easier with a group. Each event has an optional Mastery requirement and you'll earn extra Obol if you complete it, meaning you can get a maximum of 35 Murmuring Obols per event. You'll also be randomly rewarded with Murmuring Caches, a consumable that gives you 50 Murmuring Obols when used.
This currency doesn't end up in your bags, so don't bother looking there. Instead, you need to open your character sheet (press C or I) and click the "Materials and Statistics" button to the right of your character window. A narrow window will open and you can see your currency here. You will notice that there is a limit to how many Humming Obols you can hold, but you will likely be able to increase this later in the game. By the way, if you're close to the border, make sure you spend those Obols so you don't lose them.
Diablo 4 Humming Obols: Where to spend this currency
You can find the Curiosities Purveyor in many towns in Sanctuary, and you'll find that they sell random gear pieces and a mysterious Whispering Key item. The only thing you choose about the gear you buy is the slot it can be equipped with; the rest is left to chance.
If the Curiosities Vendor follows the same mechanics as Kadala in Diablo 3, there is a 10% chance that the item you purchase will be of legendary quality. There is a limit on the currency to buy them so you don't lose anything by taking risks, especially since you can save any gear you don't want to generate resources (opens in new tab).
