Sons Of The Forest's latest patch ends Kelvin's treehouse hacking escapades

The latest patch also adds a hang glider, a boss fight, and a bunch of other fixes

Sons Of The Forest was a huge hit - so popular it might have crashed Steam - but players have had some quibbles about the survival sequel since early access launched. Developer Endnight Games is trying to fix many of these issues and add a bunch of new features in the latest patch. Yesterday's patch added a mid-game boss, tons of balance tweaks, multiple fixes for Kelvin, everyone's absolute best friend, and much more. You can read the full list of changes on the developer's Steam blog.

Kelvin is a friendly companion you can meet in SOTF who will run errands at your command, though thanks to his odd AI and tendency to sabotage players he's gone viral - unknowingly, of course; he is an angel. If you ask nicely, Kelvin can chop down trees and gather wood for players, but a recurring meme features Kelvin destroying players' tree houses, with occasionally fatal consequences. Endnight puts an end to the fun with the patch, as Kelvin will no longer cut down trees with player structures attached.

Other features include new pickups like the binoculars and Virginia's leather suit, as well as a hang glider, an addition that automatically makes any open-world game infinitely more fun. "Some additional story elements" also follow a mid-game boss fight in the food bunker.

New fixes and features are greatly appreciated, as Ollie's Early Access review highlighted the game's "incredible quirkiness, which loves to plunder and loot through almost every aspect of the game like the carnivorous residents of the island." Ollie loved the game's "sublimely spooky atmosphere" still remains despite the early access junk.
