Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has just been announced for Elden Ring and fans are speculating as to why Miquella is coming. He's easily one of the characters with the most lore available, and you hardly ever encounter him in the game. And that's why Elden Ring could spoil fans with more of Miquella in Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Will Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC be a sequel to Miquella's lore?

There is a high probability that Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will follow Miquella's story. Aside from the only image teased by the developers, there was no information. We have reason to believe that the DLC is about Malenia's twin. Here are two main reasons why this could be true.


Starting with the name of the DLC, it is called Shadow of the Erdtree. This shadow could possibly refer to the Haligtree created by Miquella. He did this to cure his sister's scarlet fever and grow old. It was intended to be a replica of the Earth Tree but failed when Mohg cut Miquella from its roots. This is how you rot the Haligtree and resemble or make it the shadow of the Earthtree.


And the second reason is that Miquella is most likely alive. After defeating Mohg, you can find Miquella's cocoon in the room where you fought him. Although it appears lifeless, there is no indication that Miquella is actually dead. And based on the image for the DLC. The character sitting on the horse that looks like torrent. Has hair matching that of Miquella when we first see him in the game's opening sequence.


The DLC could be about Miquella waking up from his cocoon and seeing the destruction left behind by the Tainted. So while you learn more about him, he might appear as the final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree.
